Admission Procedures

 

All admissions are as per norms laid down by Anna University.

 

1. Candidates seeking admission for B.E. / B. Tech. Degree Programme :

Should have passed the Higher Secondary Examination of (10 + 2) Curriculum (Academic Stream) prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as three of the four subjects of study under Part.

– III or any examination of any other University or authority accepted by the Syndicate of Anna University as equivalent thereto.

Should have passed the Higher Secondary Examination of Vocational Stream (Vocational groups in Engineering / Technology) as prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu.

Should possess the Diploma in Engineering / Technology awarded by the State Board of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu or any other authority accepted by the Syndicate of the University as equivalent thereto.

A candidate should have passed in any recognized Bachelor’s Degree in Science or minimum 3 years duration with Mathematics as a subject. The candidate should have minimum marks in the qualifying examinations prescribed by Government.

The candidates who possess the Diploma in Engineering / Technology awarded by the State Board of Technical Education and Training, are eligible for admission to the third semester of the B.E. / B. Tech. Degree programmes in affiliated colleges through lateral entry system.

The eligibility criteria such as marks, number of attempts and physical fitness and the mode of admission shall be prescribed by the syndicate of the university from time to time.

The candidate should not have completed 21 years by the time of admission. The candidate belonging to SC / ST, the age limit is relax-able upwards by 3 years.

Details Of Loan And Scholarship

Earn Loan With Interest Subsidy Scheme

Government of India with a concern to ensure that nobody is denied Professional education, has approved a scheme to provide full interest subsidy during the period of moratorium i.e. Course period plus one year or Six months after getting job, whichever is earlier on loans taken by students belonging to economically weaker sections from Scheduled banks under the Education Loan Scheme of the Indian Banks Association for pursuing any of the approved Courses of Studies in technical and professional streams.

The interest for the period of moratorium shall be borne by the Govt. of India. After the period of moratorium is over, the interest on the outstanding loan amount shall be paid by the student. The interest rate charged shall beas per the Base rate of the individual banks.

This scheme would be applicable to those student belonging to economically weaker sections, with an annual gross parental / family income not crossing upper limit of Rs. 4.5 Lakhs  per year (from all sources)

Note : Interest subsidy under this scheme shall not be available for those students once they discontinue the course midstream, or who are expelled from the institution on disciplinary or academic grounds. However, the interest subsidy will be available only if the discontinuation is due to medical grounds for which necessary documentation to the satisfaction of the head of educational institution will have to be given.

2. First Generation Graduate Scholarship

Tamil Nadu Government has granted Tuition Fee waiver to first Generation graduate students admitted to First Year B.E. / B. Tech. / B. Arch. degree courses under government quota through Single Window Counseling and also to First Generation Graduate Students admitted to Direct Second Year (Lateral Entry) under graduate quota through Single Window Counseling from the academic year 2010 – 2011 onwards.

The Tuition Fee concession to first generation graduate student is subjected to the following condition :

  1. The student should be admitted under Government Quota through Single Window.
  2. There is no graduate in the family of the student granted Tuition Fee concession under this scheme.
  3. The student is the first person in the family to claim the Tuition Fee waiver for entire professional course of study.

3. BC, MBC AND DNT Scholarship

Students belonging to backward classes, most backward classes and de – notified tribes are eligible for this scholarship provided the parents / guardian’s annual income does not exceed Rs. 60,000/-.

Lateral Entry Scheme:

A pass with minimum eligible marks in the Diploma Course of the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Tamil Nadu / equivalent course prescribed for the Degree course.

For the purpose of calculation of marks in respect of sandwich diploma passed candidates marks secured in the last two semesters shall be considered. If the Industrial training intervenes in any one of the last two semesters, then the marks of the previous semester in which there is no industrial training shall be considered for the purpose of calculating the marks.
